DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Classics Program at UC Davis seeks a qualified individual to teach Elementary Hindi/Urdu in Fall Quarter, 2016. Students develop skills in speaking and listening in Hindi/Urdu and reading and writing in the Devanagari script. Assignment of classes and hours of instruction are scheduled by the Associate Director of Middle East/South Asia Languages in consultation with the lead teacher for the course. The instructor will offer two office hours per week in the Hindi/Urdu office between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm to be scheduled by the lead teacher in the course. Instructor will teach one or two sections that meet for 50 minutes Monday through Friday depending on program need and instructor availability. Classes are taught between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have a B.A. or B.S. and be proficient in speaking Hindi/Urdu and reading and writing in the Devanagari script.

APPOINTMENT DATES: The Fall quarter service period is September 19 – December 9, 2016. Instructor will be considered for a teaching position in the Winter and Spring depending on programmatic need.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and teaching experience. Total compensation will be based on the number of courses taught.
