Position description
The University of California, Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for a Assistant/Associate/Full Professor to serve as teaching attending physician in its Adult Behavioral Health Center and Integrated Behavioral Health Services serving a culturally diverse patient population. The applicant will also be supervising general psychiatry residents with their adult cases, and both general and combined residents in IM/Psych FM/Psych. Time is allocated for didactic teaching, case conferences, and supervision. In addition, the applicant will engage in scholarly or creative activities derived from and in support of their clinical teaching, professional and service activities. The candidates will also evaluate and treat their own patients.
The incumbent will provide teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows, participate in appropriate professional societies and educational organizations, provide service to department and school committees. This individual should also have ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment and adhere to University policies and procedures.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has approximately 65 residents in six residency training programs and 90 faculty and staff psychiatrists and psychologists at the UC Davis Medical Center and the Northern California VA Health System. This recruitment is conducted at the assistant/associate/full rank and the resulting hires will be at the assistant/associate/full rank in this series regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Board certification in general psychiatry
- California Medical license (or eligibility for licensure in the State of California)
- Experience with integrative medicine approaches for psychiatric conditions.
- Teaching and supervisory experience of residents, fellows, and medical students is preferred, as well as experience supervising adult psychiatry residents/fellows, general psychiatry residents, and medical students.
- Experience leading groups is also preferred.
