Position description
The University of California, Davis, Department of Neurological Surgery is recruiting for a full time Basic Scientist to work in the department research laboratories with a research emphasis in the area of traumatic brain injury. The appointment will be as an Assistant Professor In-Residence at the UC Davis School of medicine. Requirements include a Ph.D. or M.D. in neuroscience or related field from an accredited school or university, with a minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral experience. The candidate should have broad experience with animal models of traumatic brain injury, including the lateral fluid percussion and cortical impact injury models. Their training and background should include research on electrical brain activity, including studies on the effects of brain injury on oscillatory activity including theta and gamma activity. It is expected that the successful applicant will establish an active research program in these areas, and evidence of potential for developing a funded, productive researchprogram will be considered favorably.
Applicant will engage in teaching of medical students, graduate students, and residents, conduct basic research program in brain injury, participate in state and national associations, and participate in the administrative activities of the department, school, and university. Applicant must possess the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment in providing teaching and research.
