The Center for Neuroscience (CNS) in the College of Biological Sciences and the Department of Neurology in the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis invite applications for a position in fundamental neuroscience. We seek an outstanding candidate using cutting-edge approaches to understand the mechanisms of brain function and dysfunction at the molecular, synaptic, circuit or cognitive levels. Candidates should value the opportunity to work in close collaboration with both research and clinical faculty. A Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent and postdoctoral experience in an appropriate discipline are required. The successful applicant will be expected to have an active research program, a strong commitment to high quality teaching, the potential to attract extramural funding, and excellent potential for interactions/collaborations with existing faculty at the CNS and in the Neurology department. The applicant’s accomplishments in innovative research and commitments to teaching should demonstrate their potential to develop into the future leaders of their fields. The successful applicant will hold an academic appointment in the School of Medicine, Department of Neurology and will contribute to the undergraduate teaching mission of the University as well as to the University-wide Neuroscience Graduate Program. They will be housed in the Center for Neuroscience, an interdisciplinary research center that is home to more than 20 laboratories working collaboratively in all areas of neuroscience. The neuroscience community at UC Davis is broad and well-integrated across campus school and colleges, with exceptionally close and collegial interactions among between members of the Center and faculty from other neuroscience-focused institutes, departments, and graduate programs.

Required materials include a cover letter (1-page summarizing interest in this position, including how their research would complement existing programs at CNS), updated curriculum vitae, statement of research accomplishments and future plans (max 3 pages), and a statement of teaching experience and philosophy (1 page), authorization to release information form, and 3-5 supporting letters of reference. All materials must be received by December 1, 2026, to be assured consideration. The search will continue until the position is filled through June 30, 2027.
