Assistant Professor (In-Residence or Clinical X Series) – Surgeon Scientist

The Department of Urologic Surgery at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a full-time faculty member in the Professor of Clinical X or In-Residence series at the Assistant Professor rank as a surgeon-scientist who specializes in urologic oncology, preferably with a focus in renal cell carcinoma research. Faculty in the Clinical X series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the In-Residence series are expected to engage in teaching, independent research and creative work, demonstrate professional competence and activity, and provide University and public service.

EXPECTATIONS
The successful candidate will possess strong clinical and surgical expertise in Urologic Oncology, with an interest in developing an academic urologic oncology practice and a research program focused preferably on renal cell carcinoma. The candidate is expected to have completed an NIH/NCI T32 training grant with goal of pursuing a career development award such as a NIH K08 award.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality patient care, teaching and education, and scholarly and creative activities. The candidate should have an innovative and well-defined research plan, a demonstrated interest in academic career development, and excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, including the ability to work effectively across a broad range of medical specialties.

Teaching responsibilities will include the education and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows, and PA/NP students. Participation in relevant professional societies and educational organizations is expected, as is meaningful service through departmental and school committees. The candidate will contribute to the University's missions of patient care, education, research and scholarly activity, and public and professional service.

The incumbent must foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment that fosters team science and multi-disciplinary patient care, adhere to University policies and procedures and be sensitive to the needs of patients from diverse backgrounds.

This recruitment is being conducted at the assistant rank. The resulting hire will be at the assistant rank, regardless of the proposed appointee’s qualifications.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are legally authorized to work in the United States. The University will not offer sponsorship of a visa for this position.
