Position description
The School of Education (SOE) at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time assistant professor position with an opportunity for a joint affiliation with the UC Davis MIND Institute beginning Fall 2027. We seek applicants whose research and teaching offer transformative and critical insights into disability justice, neurodiversity and inclusion at the elementary and/or secondary level. We are especially interested in scholars who bring a design-based perspective to improving instructional practices, support structures, tools and technologies and organizational structures and who are committed to designing, testing and studying the implementation of programs and systems to improve learning opportunities for neurodivergent students of all backgrounds.
In addition to maintaining a robust research agenda, the applicant will teach in our teaching credential/MA program. As such, we invite applicants with expertise in teaching and research who have developed an asset-based, neuro-affirming program of studies and innovative approaches for educating special and general teachers alongside one another.
Furthermore, we invite applicants whose work lies at the intersection of disability and policy, reading, writing or teacher preparation as these areas are critical to teacher education and/or whose research addresses the intersectionality between disability, race, language, multilingualism, gender, and/or sexuality.
Responsibilities: Conducting and maintaining a productive program of research; seeking extramural support for research and graduate student support; teaching graduate, undergraduate and teaching credential courses; providing mentorship and research guidance to master's and doctoral students (Ed.D. and Ph.D.); and serving on school and university committees.
The UC Davis School of Education is transforming education through the preparation of the best education leaders, researchers, and teachers in the country. We are committed to deepening our engagement in inclusive excellence by eliminating inequities in schooling and creating learning opportunities for diverse learners using the power of knowledge and the promise of education.
The School of Education serves four programs: an undergraduate minor, credential and master's in Teacher Education, Ph.D., and the Capital Area North Doctorate in Educational Leadership (CANDEL) Ed.D. program.
The School of Education offers five Ph.D. emphasis areas, including Language, Literacy, and Culture; Learning and Mind Sciences, Mathematics Education, Science and Agricultural Education and School Organization and Educational Policy. In addition, we are home to six centers and various research projects.
