Position description

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis Health seeks to recruit a full-time Academic Hospitalist. The appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate Health Sciences Clinical Professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

UC Davis Health delivers approximately 2,000 babies annually, has a Level III NICU, and serves a high-risk obstetric population. The Hospitalist position is within the Division of University Women’s Health (UWH), the generalist division of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and offers 12–13 hour shifts. The number of shifts a month can be negotiated and may include a combination of day & night shifts. This is an exceptional opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while contributing to the education of future healthcare professionals in a dynamic academic setting.

Responsibilities as a Hospitalist, you will:
• Provide direct patient care in general obstetrics and gynecology.
• Cover obstetric and gynecologic inpatient services, including:
o OB triage
o Labor management and postpartum care
o Initial evaluation and admission of antepartum patients
o ER coverage, emergency surgeries, and inpatient consults
• Supervise and teach residents and medical students on Labor & Delivery, in the operating room, and on inpatient wards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and uphold the highest standards of care.
• Participate in departmental meetings, initiatives, and committee work.
• Adhere to departmental, clinical, and university policies.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

• M.D. or D.O. degree
• Completion of an accredited Obstetrics & Gynecology residency (or currently in the final year)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Eligible for California medical licensure
• Experience in general obstetrics and gynecology
• Ability to work cooperatively and collegially in a diverse academic environment
