Salary range: The salary range for this position is $81,633-$140,344. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.

Position description

The Academic Executive Director (AED) for the MSBA (Master of Science in Business Analytics) program provides overall strategic program leadership. The AED develops and executes effective multi-year strategic and tactical plans to ensure that the program achieves its goals in alignment with the mission of the GSM. The AED works with the faculty and staff to continuously improve the student experience and student outcomes; and consequently, to improve the program’s reputation and the resources available to it. The AED assesses the MSBA market and launches initiatives to keep the program relevant and competitive. The AED is the champion, chief innovation officer and caretaker for all academic and administrative matters related to the MSBA program. The AED, who will also receive a faculty appointment in the Lecturer title series to teach in the program (nine units annually expected), will be appointed the Graduate Program Committee Chair by the Dean of the Graduate School of Management. The position is contingent on funding and pending administrative approval. Salary is based on ability and experience.

Specific Responsibilities of the Academic Administrator
Administration/Management of Programs (85%)
• Ensure the MSBA degree is current, relevant, and valuable for students. Coordinate faculty review of the program curriculum, identify areas for improvement and facilitate continuous improvement.
• Coordinate all requests for Academic Student Employees (Teaching Assistants and Readers) for Business Analytics courses with the Associate Dean and Academic Operations.
• Oversee the Assurance of Learning process for the MSBA program. During the Graduate Council’s program review and AACSB continuous improvement review, collaborate with staff to provide materials required in a timely manner. Implement any programmatic changes required by the Graduate Council or recommended by AACSB.
• Manage the recruitment and admissions process with the MSBA staff team to meet the program’s reputational and resource goals.
• Manage the career development and placement programs to strengthen and expand professional opportunities for MSBA students to achieve high placement rates and starting salaries.
• Ensure an exceptional student experience in all academic and co-curricular aspects of the MSBA program. Attend meetings with MSBA students for consultation and feedback. Respond to student feedback on academic matters. Collaborate with the MSBA Associate Director and the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration on staffing and resource needs for the program.
• Notify the Dean of any administrative coordination initiatives involving the office of Graduate Studies. Attend regular GSM leadership meetings.

University and Public Service (10%)
• Engage executives to participate on the MSBA Advisory Board. Develop a vision statement, strategic plan, guidelines, and commitments for board participation. Work with the Program’s Advisory Board to ensure the curriculum is aligned with current demands of Business Analytics, and to support all program operations.
• Lead curricular changes with the Graduate Program Committee and, where necessary, shepherd those changes through Academic Senate councils and committees for approval.

Professional Competence (5%)
• Maintain continual professional growth by engaging in activities such as maintaining membership in professional societies and associations, participating in professional events that focus on the practice of Business Analytics, management and other related issues.
