Position description

The Department of Internal Medicine: Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for 1 full-time faculty member in the Professor of Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank in COPD and asthma. Faculty in the Clinical X series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are expected to engage in teaching, professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative activities, and University/public service.

EXPECTATIONS

The successful candidate will have strong clinical skills and an interest in airway disease. Candidates will provide outpatient care for patients with chronic airway disease, inpatient care, including pulmonary consults, critical care, including rotation on the MICU service.

The incumbent will work directly with the medical leads of the COPD and Asthma Programs to help grow the clinical service line and associated research initiatives. The position will include clinical care of patients with advanced COPD and asthma, including management of biologics, endobronchial valve candidacy evaluations. The ideal candidate will have an interest and demonstrated success in clinical research and as a clinician educator. Interest in clinical practice innovation and novel healthcare delivery models is a plus.

In addition, the incumbent will teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows. Participate in appropriate professional societies and educational organizations and provide service to department and school committees. Work collegially and collaboratively in a diverse environment.

This recruitment is conducted at the assistant/associate rank. The resulting hire will be at the assistant/associate rank, regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

• M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O. or equivalent degree
• Track record of teaching of medical students and residents.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

• ABIM Board certification/eligibility in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine
• Medical licensure or eligible for licensure in the state of California
• ACGME accredited fellowship or equivalent experience have proven skills relevant to practice of Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine.

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

• The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills and interest in COPD and asthma associated clinical research.
