Position description

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for one full-time faculty member in the Health Sciences Clinical (HSCP) series at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist. Faculty in the HSCP series are expected to engage in teaching, demonstrate professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative work, and University and public service.

We are a rapidly expending division and is a large tertiary referral center for central California, providing a full spectrum of advanced cardiovascular care services, with excellent academic and clinical research opportunities. Applicant should have a commitment to the highest quality patient care, communication, academic development and clinical outcomes.

The final candidate will be expected perform clinical duties in all aspects of the heart failure, heart transplantation and ventricular assist device inpatient and outpatient clinical settings in the main health science campus and outreach locations. The candidate will be expected to each fellows, residents, and medical students.

This position may, at time, require the incumbent to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Specific hazards of the position may include but are not limited to the use of radioactive or radiolabeled agents in the laboratory.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

o MD., M.D./Ph.D., MD/MPH, or equivalent degree
o Patient care experience in cardiovascular and advanced heart failure medicine is required.
o Experience or willing to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is required.
o Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

o Board certification/eligibility in Cardiovascular Medicine and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
o Medical licensure or eligible for licensure in the state of California
o ACGME accredited fellowship or equivalent experience
