Clinical responsibilities include all areas of pediatric radiology (radiographs, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI). Most teaching is conducted during daily read out sessions with residents. Pediatric Radiology faculty also share in the division’s responsibility to deliver didactic and case-based conferences to Radiology residents and medical students rotating in Radiology. The group participates actively in multidisciplinary conferences.

The Department of Radiology performs approximately 400,000 examinations per year and has 45 full-time faculty, including 7 Pediatric Radiologists. The department has state-of-the-art equipment, including new MRI scanners and a brand-new pediatric fluoroscopy suite. It is the country’s first adopter of the new ultra high-resolution Cannon CT scanner. The new Explorer total-body PET/CT scanner offers abundant research opportunities. Both UC Davis Health and Shriners Hospitals for Children offer EOS imaging systems for ultra low-dose radiography. UC Davis Health is the first children’s hospital on the west coast and the fourth in the nation to be designated a center for Children’s Surgery Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (CSPIPS).
