Position description

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology Oncology at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a full-time faculty member(s) in the Regular/In-Residence series at the Assistant Professor rank in the field of cancer biology and translational research. Faculty in this series are expected to engage in teaching, independent research and creative work, demonstrate professional competence and activity, and provide University and public service.

EXPECTATIONS
The successful candidate will have a promising program of research in translational cancer research. The candidate will not only demonstrate excellence in this research area but also be able to teach courses in the field to medical students, residents, and fellows.

• Define and lead research projects.
• Develop and write advanced experimental protocols.
• Prepare, organize and communicate research results through publication and presentations.
• Participate in appropriate professional societies and educational organizations, including taking a leadership role in organizations.
• Participate in service on research review boards.
• Provide service to department, school and campus committees.
• Willing to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
• Willing to adhere to University policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree
• An outstanding record of research creativity, independence, and productivity
• Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain extramurally funded research programs
• Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level
• Demonstrated skills or willingness to communicate effectively as a teacher
• The desire and willingness to work collaboratively with a broad variety of laboratory and clinician scientists to translate research discoveries to improve human health
