A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). The research and outreach activities will focus on precision water and nutrient management for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) facilities like greenhouses and indoor vertical farming. The successful candidate will work in the Controlled Environment Engineering (CEE) Lab at UC Davis under the supervision of Dr. Shamim Ahamed.
The expected starting date will be January 2024 or as soon as possible. The initial appointment will be for two years, with a possible extension of the third year, depending on performance and funding availability.
- A Ph.D in Agricultural Engineering, Biosystems Engineering, Water Resources Engineering and Management or a related field at the time of position start
- Strong skills in programming (MATLAB, Python) and experiences in numerical and analytical modeling.
- Strong track record for publications in high-quality journals.
- Experience in designing and performing field and lab-based experiments.
- Prior experience in writing for grants and high-quality scientific papers.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate students and diligently meet deadlines.
- Experience in outreach work with CEA growers
- A valid US driver's license at the time of position start
