Position description

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis Health System seeks to recruit a full-time, academic Division Director of Family Planning. The position will be recruited at the Associate or Full Professor level in the Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Academic Senate Clinical X) series or the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series based on experience and qualifications.

The Family Planning Division at the University of California, Davis Health System currently has 7 faculty and two fellows in an ACGME-approved complex family planning fellowship. Faculty provide clinical care at the University of California, Davis Health System in Sacramento and Stockton and through contracts at the University of California, Davis Student Health Center, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte (Sacramento and Stockton), and Planned Parenthood of Northern California (Chico). The division has two full days of OR block time per week in addition to one general gynecology OR block day per month. Research programs include funding through the NICHD female and male contraceptive clinical trials networks, industry, and private funding. Faculty and fellows train and mentor residents as a part of a graduated Ryan residency training program.

Applicants for Division Director must have five (5) or more years of clinical care experience specializing in complex family planning and have completed a Family Planning Fellowship program. Applicants must demonstrate publications focusing on family planning appropriate in number for expected level of appointment and have demonstrated program leadership and development in education and research, as well as clinical expertise.

Chosen candidate will be responsible for administrative oversight of the Family Planning Division including department steering committee activities and interactions within the health system to continue to further family planning needs for patients and education. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for family planning and general gynecology clinical care, participation in the family planning research program, and oversight of medical students, residents and fellows for issues related to family planning and general gynecology. Obstetric night call coverage and participation in contracted work with UC Davis Student Health and Planned Parenthood affiliates are not required but can be included in the assigned duties. Candidate will be required to provide mentorship related to family planning activities.

Applicants must possess an MD or DO from an accredited medical school and have or be eligible to obtain a California Medical License. The candidate must be board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and planning subspecialty certification in Family Planning. Applicants must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and be able to adhere to policies and procedures. Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications.
