Position description

The College of Engineering at the University of California, Davis invites applications from qualified candidates for one or more Specialist positions in Biomedical Engineering. We aim to recruit outstanding individuals with the appropriate background and/or experience, capable of interacting with our many collaborators, and working with minimal supervision.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, or other fields that may meet the needs of the department. For consideration at the Associate or Full Specialist rank, 2-5 years of postdoctoral experience is required.

Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of refereed journal publications with a particular emphasis on positron emission tomography.

The Specialist is evaluated for merit and promotion based on evidence of contribution to the research program, authorship/acknowledgement in peer-reviewed publications and conference papers, active dissemination of information and other evidence of expertise. The Specialist will maintain professional competence and may perform university and public service. The Department of Biomedical Engineering is the newest Department in the College of Engineering at the University of California, Davis. It is housed in the interdisciplinary Genome and Biomedical Sciences Building alongside faculty in the Genome Center and several School of Medicine programs, including Pharmacology. The Department is also home to the Center for Molecular and Genomic Imaging, a state -of-the-art facility for in vivo imaging in animal mode ls, and TEAM (Translating Engineering Advances to Medicine). The UC Davis Medical Center is a comprehensive academic medical center where clinical practice, teaching and research converge to advance human health. The Radiology Department has a vibrant research environment encompassing cutting-edge instrumentation development and very close links with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the School of Veterinary Medicine and
the Center for Molecular and Genomic Imaging.

UC Davis is the only California University with both a Medical School and a School of Veterinary Medicine.
