Pediatric Clinical Geneticist Faculty Position

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Davis is seeking to recruit a full-time academic pediatric clinical geneticist faculty member in the Division of Genomic Medicine. The Division of Genomic Medicine is composed of 3 clinical faculty, 2 physician-scientists, 4 genetic counselors, 2 genetics counseling assistants, a nutritionist, a clinical research coordinator and several student volunteers. Specific areas of interest of the Division include genomic medicine, precision genomics, RASopathies, neurodevelopmental/autism genomics, biochemical genetics, enzyme replacement for lysosomal storage disorders, cardiovascular genomics, craniofacial genetics, connective tissue disorders, skeletal dysplasias and TeleGenomics.

Genomic Medicine is housed at the MIND Institute at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. The MIND Institute was founded in 1998 as a unique interdisciplinary research center where parents, community leaders, researchers, clinicians and volunteers collaborate to study and treat autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. The institute has major research efforts in autism, Tourette Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, Chromosome 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the RASopathies.

This position is open at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank (commensurate with credentials) in either the Clinical X or Health Science Clinical Series. Depending upon the series, this position has the opportunity and flexibility for a candidate who would like to concentrate more on clinical effort and teaching or a candidate who is interested in combining clinical research with practice. Demonstrated record to perform clinical or translational research is preferred but not required. For applicants with existing research funding, protected time with access to a molecular research laboratory is available.

The candidates must have the following experience/qualifications:
• M.D. or D.O.
• Board eligible/certified in Clinical Genetics
• Eligibility for a California Medical License
• Successful completion of an approved pediatric residency training program
• Successful completion of an approved Pediatric Genetics fellowship training program
• Demonstrated proficiency in the teaching of students and housestaff
• Service including committees, leadership ability, and community outreach
• Ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment
• Ability to adhere to policies and procedures, and leadership experience and abilities
