Position description

The University of California Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine and Stem Cell Program are recruiting for a full-time position at the Assistant/Associate Professor levels in the Professor (tenure-track)/Professor-In-Residence Series (50%/50%). Appointees to the Professor/Professor In Residence series are expected to conduct independent research, maintain a record of consistent funding, and significantly participate in teaching and University/public service.

The position is focused on the support of research program related to translational research in cardiovascular regenerative medicine. A specific and proven expertise in research and teaching in the areas of induced pluripotent stem cell biology, cardiovascular disease and/or cardiovascular physiology will be required for this position. Particular considerations will be given to candidates who have proven track records in induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes, electrical signaling, microenvironment, and extracellular matrix with the goals toward biological pacemakers with proven external funding at NIH or equivalent levels.

Required candidate qualifications include: a Ph.D. or M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, an established track record of original research publications in high-impact journals, and a record of principal investigator funded research, and a record of teaching and mentoring in the area of stem cell biology and cardiovascular diseases. Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to adhere to policies and procedures are required, as is the ability to work cooperatively and collegially in a diverse environment and adhere to policies and procedures.
The candidate is expected to work well with teams of clinicians and basic scientists. Strong interpersonal skills and experience in teaching laboratory (graduate students and post-docs) staff is required. Furthermore, the successful candidate will have experience demonstrating an ability to advance inter-disciplinary collaborations across Schools/Colleges at a large University center.
