Position description

The Division of Hematology Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, UC Davis School of Medicine, is recruiting a full-time faculty in the In Residence or Clinical Internal Medicine series as an Assistant Professor in the specialty area of sarcoma and other skeletal-related malignancies, carcinogenesis, and /or developmental/experimental therapeutics.

Position Responsibilities: The successful applicant will engage in high impact oncology clinical translational research. Clinical care will focus on patients with sarcoma or other skeletal-related malignancies. Application to participate as a scholar in the Paul Calabresi Oncology K12 is required. Potential for excellence in teaching and ability to build research teams and conduct collaborative science, that may include innovative investigator-initiated clinical trials. A record of publication in peer-reviewed journals is required.

The division has 38 faculty, 12 staff physicians, 10 fellows, 53 staff and operates a large and diverse clinical and research program. The division is a major component of the NCI-designated UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and has a strong presence in developmental therapeutics with an Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN) grant and as a Lead Academic Participating Site (LAPS) with the NCI National Clinical Trials Network. The UC Davis School of Medicine is in the top twenty percent for NIH funding and one of the inaugural Clinical and Translational Award sites. Application Requirements: Candidates must possess an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and be board certified or eligible by the ABIM in medical oncology (+/- hematology). Must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of California to fulfill criteria for appointment at the Assistant Professor level. Experience in, and the ability to teach medical students, residents, and fellows as well as experience caring for medical oncology patients is highly desired. The ability and experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research is required. Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials is highly desirable. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is required. A record of peer reviewed publications is required.
