Molecular Imaging Scientist Position
University of California Davis Health is looking for a Molecular Imaging Scientist to join its team.
The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Radiology is actively recruiting for a full-time Academic Scientist in Imaging to complement our program in molecular imaging and imaging physics research, and to build bridges with our collaborators in the School of Engineering. Appointment will be at the Assistant rank, to the In-Residence series.
The successful candidate will participate in research and teaching and will play a critical role in developing research in dosimetric methods for therapeutics using the shortly-to-be-installed EXPLORER Total-Body PET scanner, as well as strengthening the bridges between our pre-clinical and veterinary in vivo imaging teams, the School of Engineering and the PET translational research operation. The candidate must have a demonstrable interest in translating physics and engineering methods from the lab to the clinic. The candidate will have the intent and potential to develop an independent research career and where appropriate will be encouraged to apply for career research awards. The candidate will be expected to participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, and will be expected to apply to join the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Group with a view to teaching and supervising Biomedical Engineering graduate students.
The basic qualifications for this position are: Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, imaging science or related field; appropriate background to qualify for an academic appointment at the level of Assistant Professor; research track record in molecular imaging, specifically in detector development, translational imaging, pre-clinical imaging, dosimetry, and detector, system and applications simulation; intent and potential to pursue an independent research career; evidence of current success in attracting extramural support as principal investigator; experience of building multi-disciplinary collaborations including in clinical disciplines; evidence of scholarly activity demonstrated by publications in high-quality peer-reviewed scientific journals; experience in academic teaching at the graduate level; and ability to work cooperatively and collegially in a diverse environment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include: experience in mentoring; evidence of collaborative scholarly activity at local, national and international levels; and research experience in the following areas: image processing, bioluminescence imaging, and real-time imaging systems.
