The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis, and Center for a Diverse Healthcare Workforce invites applications for the position of Junior Specialist.

This position will be housed in the Office of Medical Education and will be involved in interdisciplinary studies to strengthen and diversify the Primary Care workforce to ultimately ensure access to care for all Americans. The Center will conduct multi- institutional research spanning the educational continuum; disseminate best practices; convene leaders and learners; and provide training to support educational institutions in effectively diversifying and growing the healthcare workforce.

The successful candidate will participate in and coordinate activities between research collaborators at UC Davis Health System, as well as the other UC Schools of Medicine, collect and input data and assist with website management.

Recruitment Description

The successful candidate will participate in and coordinate activities between research collaborators at UC Davis Health System, as well as the other UC Schools of Medicine, collect and input data and assist with website management.

Research and Evaluation (90%):
• Assist in the implementation and evaluation of research activities related to a HRSA-sponsored grant.
• Be actively and significantly involved in publishable research activities, including reviewing journal articles and engaging in discussions on research and the interpretation of research results.
• Prepares research dissemination materials, including conference posters, one-pagers, and policy briefs
• Conducts literature reviews and assists with environmental scans
• As directed by Dr. Tonya Fancher, the Associate Dean for Workforce Innovation and Community Engagement, assist with data collection and reporting.

Professional Competence (5%)
• Contributes to the Beyond Flexner Alliance conference on the social mission in health professions education, preparing and presenting poster presentations and attending the proceedings.

University and Public Service (5%)
• Organizes symposia and workshops to advance the utilization of new approaches and techniques for the solution of professional problems in the health workforce domain.
• Attends Research Core Meetings for the Center for a Diverse Healthcare Workforce, collaborating with faculty to review research proposals received by the Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor degree in biology, psychiatry or a related field with a minimum of two years’ experience in education and/or health services research
• Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills; as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (optional):
Bilingual: English/Spanish

SALARY RANGE:
Step I $39,500/II $42,100 -commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Term Of Appointment:

Short-term 2-year maximum appointment, seasonal appointment based on the needs of the research project. Appointments may be made up to 100%.
