QUALIFICATIONS:
We are seeking outstanding Veterinary Toxicologists with a PhD and advanced training in toxicology for a faculty position in One Environmental Health. Postdoctoral or equivalent experience preferred. DVM/VMD degree or equivalent with board eligibility in veterinary toxicology preferred. Candidates are required to demonstrate the potential for developing a strong extramurally funded research program and must demonstrate a record of scholarship. Enthusiasm for research that integrates well with research strengths in the Department of Molecular Biosciences and related University programs, including the One Health Institute (https://www2.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/ohi/index.cfm) is required. Current research strengths in the Department include mechanisms of toxicology, biomarkers of exposure and disease, gene by environment interactions in complex disease states, metabolism, and nutrition. Aptitude/experience in teaching veterinary toxicology in professional and graduate courses is desired.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere, and strong or potential accomplishment in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching: 1) teaching students in the DVM and graduate academic curriculum; and 2) mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Opportunities for clinical teaching and service in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH), participation in the graduate clinical (resident) training program of the VMTH, and on-line undergraduate teaching are available. A demonstrated commitment to innovative teaching methods and to the training of veterinary or other biomedical scientists is preferred.
Research: Development of a creative and productive research program in field(s) relevant to One Environmental Health is a fundamental requirement of the position, including research publications in peer-reviewed journals. The successful candidate is expected to obtain funding and direct research programs involving professional students, residents, graduate students and/or postdoctoral scholars.
Service: The University of California has a system of shared governance. Active participation in committees, professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate outlets is required. The department has a mentoring program in place and participation in the program is required. Opportunities exist for providing leadership for the BioAnalytical Research Core (https://www2.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/barc/), a departmental recharge center that provides support for pharmacology/toxicology studies at preclinical and clinical stages of development.

Faculty members in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis have opportunities to synergize with research groups in the School of Medicine, the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (including the Veterinary Center for Clinical Trials), the Center for Comparative Medicine, the One Health Institute, the California Animal Health & Food Safety Laboratory System (CAFHS), the Primate Center, and the Sacramento Division of the California Poison Control System, among others.
