Adjunct Professor (WOS) - Department of Plant Sciences
Position description
The Department of Plant Sciences in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis is recruiting for an Adjunct Professor (without salary position) in Plant Sciences. The appointee is will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate classes. In addition, the appointee will participate in advising graduate student as well as maintaining an active research program.
TEACHING: Appointee to participate in the teaching of courses that support the Horticulture and Agronomy Graduate Group, the International Agricultural Development Graduate Group, and undergraduate majors offered by the department. Two courses have been identified as immediate teaching assignments. The two courses are:
PLS 101. Agriculture and the Environment (3 units).
IAD 202N. Analysis and Determinants of Farming Systems (4 units).
In addition, the department anticipates that there will be multiple opportunities to participate as instructor, co-instructor, or guest lecturer in several other courses as well.
SERVICE: Appointee to participate in advising graduate students, including as a major professor, thesis/dissertation committee member, and qualifying exam committee member. Appointee will also be expected to supervise undergraduate research and to serve on departmental and graduate group committees.
RESEARCH: Appointee to maintain an active research program which will provide excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations with other faculty both within and outside of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in plant sciences or equivalent degree in horticulture, agronomy, soil science, or a related field. The candidate should have the experience to develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses and experience in teaching and mentoring students. Evidence of research excellence is expected. Candidates to have established international relationships with industry, community organizations and relevant State of California and federal agencies are required
SALARY: This is a without salary (WOS) position.
