The Department of French & Italian seeks a scholar of superior accomplishment and/or promise to fill a tenure-track, entry-level Assistant Professor position in medieval and/or early modern Italian Studies, beginning July 1, 2019. We are seeking a literature specialist with broad interdisciplinary interests, a solid foundation in Italian language and culture, and a proven record of teaching excellence. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent, native or near-native proficiency in Italian, and a strong commitment to research, teaching, and service. Specifically, they must be able to demonstrate expertise in foreign language pedagogy, commitment to a student-centered classroom, and interest in designing and implementing large-enrollment, interdisciplinary lecture courses for non-Italian students.
