Description

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for one full-time position in the Clinical X Professor Series at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The position will be primarily dedicated to developing a basic research program in inflammatory bowel disease with an emphasis on cell-based therapies. The candidate will be expected to develop an independently funded research program in collaboration with the UC Davis Institute for Regenerative Cures which features resources to study the basics of stem cells in animal models as well as a GMP facility to translate these findings into clinical practice. The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and Primate Center provide additional opportunities to study IBD in a variety of non-murine models. Further resources include a CTSA-funded Clinical and Translational Sciences Center which provides bioinformatics and biostatistical support including access to over 12 million patient records in UC-Rex; and a GI Clinical Trials Unit to support investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials. Generous resources and time for research will be provided.

Non-research responsibilities will be limited but include providing care to patients with IBD. The Division cares for a large and diverse patient population with IBD which the candidate will be expected to share in the care of with the current IBD specialists. Teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows will also be expected.

Qualifications:
Possess an M.D. degree.
Be Board Certified /Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
Eligible for medical license in the state of California.
The candidate is required to have a track record of research in cell therapies and NIH funding.
Clinical training and experience in general gastroenterology as well as in the treatment of IBD are required.
Excellence in teaching is required.
Appointees to the Clinical X series are required to engage in creative activity that can include clinical/translational research, teaching, patient care and university service.

Rank will be commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales. Candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.
