Description

The Department of Plant Sciences offers temporary Lecturer positions in the following major areas: International Ag Development and Plant Sciences. A list of courses that may be available during academic year 2018-19 are listed below. Included are area of degree and experience required to effectively teach these courses. Courses may be added or omitted from this list as the year progresses.

APPOINTMENT DATE: Assignments vary according to type of course and percentage of appointment. Service periods are:
Fall Quarter 2018: September 24, 2018 – December 14, 2018
Winter Quarter 2019: January 04, 2019 – March 22, 2019
Spring Quarter 2019: April 1, 2019 – June 13, 2019

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach one or more undergraduate or graduate courses in IAD or PLS as well as graduate courses in IAD. Candidates may be asked to teach 1 to 2 courses for the year depending on programmatic need and candidate’s availability.

QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate professional degree, e.g. doctorate or master’s degree (or 30 units of graduate coursework); demonstrated teaching ability; a developing record of scholarly or professional achievement in an area of expertise related to the subject area of the course.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Temporary lecturers are selected to fill specialized positions which require professional as well as academic expertise. Temporary lecturers may be selected to fill teaching needs occasioned by leave of regular faculty or to enhance and compliment the strengths of faculty teaching related courses. Therefore, in any given year, open positions and requirements for individuals to fill them will vary.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and course load.

COURSE AVAILABILITY: The following courses may be available for the 2018-19 academic year pending availability of funding. Areas of degree and experience noted. Other courses will be added as needed. Multiple courses in IAD, PLS, and BIT, and other courses as needed.

Candidates may be asked for further evidence of scholarly or creative work at a later date.
