The Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Davis invites applications for a pool of qualified Junior Specialists in the area of Computer Science and Computer Science Engineering.
Junior Specialist appointments will be involved in interdisciplinary studies focusing on questions in Computer Science, and more specifically in the areas of Human Computer Interaction, Visualization and Social Computing. General responsibilities include conducting laboratory research, reviewing journal articles, and engaging in discussions on research and the interpretation of research results. Candidates may also be expected to review research proposals, journal manuscripts, and engaging in discussions on research and the interpretation of research results. The candidate will also participate in university and public service, including duties such as participation in activities on committees within the department, college, campus and other university entities, as appropriate.
The ideal candidate(s) will have strong interpersonal, communication and decision -making skills, as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Junior Specialist positions are short term, two-year maximum appointments based on the needs of the research project.
A bachelor degree, or the equivalent in experience, is a requirement. Master's degree students will also be considered. Some classroom experience in literature, laboratory, and/or field research is strongly preferred.

Salary range: Step 1 - $38,112 or Step 2 - $40,656 step is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies each year, depending on the needs of the department. As openings occur, appointments are made contingent upon availability of funding.
