Position description

The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Davis is recruiting a translational imaging scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This is a full time faculty position in the tenure track.

The faculty member will join a dynamic research environment within the Department of Neurology. We seek candidates with a focus on translational neuroimaging investigations (PET and MRI) to study brain aging, cerebrovascular disease and dementing disorders. The candidate of choice will join an internationally recognized research environment that includes the Alzheimer’s Disease Center, the Imaging of Dementia and Aging (IDeA) laboratory, the Imaging Research Center and the UC Davis Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The applicant is expected to focus primarily on human imaging and is expected to have comprehensive biological knowledge of brain aging and dementia with sufficient experience utilizing neuroimaging tools to study these biological processes. The applicant will be expected to develop a vigorous and independent research program and to participate in our undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral education and training programs. Collaboration with other departmental programs involved in neuroimaging is also encouraged. The applicant will also be expected to provide University and public service.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant is required to have experience with methods of advanced computing and statistics as they relate to neuroimaging analyses. The applicant is required to have relevant publications in the area of aging and dementia or neuroimaging. The applicant must have familiarity with aging and dementia research.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD with a fellowship in neuroimaging

This recruitment is conducted at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. The resulting hire will be at the Assistant/Associate rank, regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
