One Part-time Junior Specialist Position
Department of Psychology, University of California, Davis

Dr. Simine Vazire in the Psychology Department at the University of California, Davis seeks to fill a part-time position at the Junior Specialist level starting immediately. This position is for up to eight months at 40% time. There may be a possibility for extension depending on funding.

The successful candidates will be responsible for:
• Work on a a study of personality and behavior in everyday life. Participation on this project consists mainly of behavioral coding and questionnaire data collection and management.
• Oversee other projects in the Personality and Self-Knowledge laboratory, including meta-science projects and data management.
• Design coding protocols and making adjustments to protocols when necessary
• Conduct Independent Data Analysis
• Manage IRB submissions, modifications, and renewals
• Participate in weekly discussions of relevant literature, and conduct literature reviews relevant to the work being conducted.
• Contribute to the writing and preparation of manuscripts for publication.
• Oversee recruitment, scheduling and training of research assistants
• Evaluate research assistant progress and performance
• Conducting lab meetings with undergraduate research assistants, meeting with research assistants as needed;
• Train and mentor undergraduate students on data collection, coding and analyses protocols.
• General lab management duties, including handling lab finances, delegating tasks, and overseeing computer software and hardware management

Position qualifications include:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Anthropolgy, or a related field. Experience working with human participants in empirical research studies. Experience with behavioral coding from audio files using the Electronically Activated Recorder (EAR) method. Familiarity with Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.

Preferred: Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment on multiple tasks; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and keen attention to detail; Strong computer skills and willingness to learn and develop new skills related to data collection, management and processing. Experience interviewing candidates and managing finances and bookkeeping.

Salary range: Step I - $18.26/hour [25% annual]
This position will remain open until February 7, 2018.
