Comparative Animal Nutrition & Physiology Laboratory (http://animalnutr-ansci.faculty.ucdavis.edu/) at the Department of Animal Science, UC Davis is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher, 100% time for duration of 24 months with the possibility of extension depending on funding.
This position will be involved in interdisciplinary studies focusing on animal and human nutrition. Successful candidates will be highly involved in the research focus on: bio-active components on animal health (gut health and disease resistance) and/or brain development. In vitro cell culture assays and molecular biology techniques (qPCR, western blot, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, -omics, etc.) will be heavily applied in those types of research. Successful candidates will be also involved in animal trials, sample collection, lab analysis, data management and analysis, and preparing manuscripts under general supervision. General responsibilities also include: laboratory support (maintaining lab, organizing lab, and lab supply ordering), animal trial support (setting up facilities, feeding animals, and collecting samples), and sample analysis and data management. Otherwise, postdoc will be actively and significantly involved in reviewing journal articles, engaging in discussions on research and the interpretation of research results, participating in appropriate professional societies or groups and other educational and research organizations, presenting research data in lab meeting or society annual conferences, and publishing manuscripts. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

The successful postdoc will join a vibrant research community in nutrition, health, and sustainable agriculture at University of California Davis.
• PhD degree in Animal Science or a related field with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in laboratory and/or animal nutrition related research.
• Strong interest in applied and basic animal nutrition
• Strong lab techniques: cell culture, molecular biology techniques (e.g. IHC, western blot, qPCR, -omics analysis)
• Strong knowledge and experience with biostatistics (using R).
• Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques related to Animal Nutrition research.
• Ability to organize supplies for laboratory and small animal study.
• Knowledge and skills working with Microsoft suite (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) for information outreach, data management and summary.
• Demonstrated publication record.
• Experience in research related to gut physiology and immunology.
