The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, UC Davis Health, seeks a successful physician-leader to serve as Chief of the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Clinical Immunology. This full-time position will be at the Associate or Full Professor level in the Professor (tenure-track)/Professor In Residence Series (50%/50%). The Chief of Rheumatology, Allergy and Clinical Immunology reports to the Chair of the Department of Medicine. The Chief provides administrative leadership of the Division’s clinical services, educational programs, research initiatives, and budget and resource allocation. The Chief will be directly involved in teaching, research, and clinical service in his/her area of specialization. The Chief will be expected to provide leadership by strengthening the division clinical and education services in the face of the rapidly changing health care landscape; improving clinical and epidemiologic research and academic programs; mentor and support faculty in clinical and research activities; and establish and build strong partnerships within the School of Medicine, the entire UC Davis Campus, and other healthcare providers in the region.
Candidates must possess a M.D. degree, be board certified in Internal Medicine and either Rheumatology or Allergy and Clinical Immunology and must be eligible for licensure in the State of California. The successful candidate will be a clinician-scientist with a record of outstanding achievement in bench or translational research in Rheumatology and/or Allergy-Clinical Immunology as evidenced by publications, extramural funding, and leadership positions. The candidate must have ability to oversee the Divisional curricular programs, clinics and affiliated VA programs. The candidate must have the ability to develop and implement plans for strategic growth and development of the division's research, teaching and clinical missions. Candidates must have the interest in and ability to teaching medical students, residents and fellows. Candidates must possess the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.

a major clinical department.
• A strong understanding of both research and clinical practice in medicine.

• Demonstrated experience in recruiting top faculty and/or students.
• Financial budgeting and resource management skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing and actively promoting diversity
• Exceptional planning and organizational skills, superb follow-through, and timely task completion.
• Personal qualities that include persuasiveness, flexibility, adaptability, tenacity, courage, a sense of
humor and unquestionable integrity.
The candidate must meet requirements for appointment as Associate or Full Professor in the Ladder Rank (Tenure-track) and In Residence Series. The principal qualification for appointment in this series is a national or international reputation in scholarship (demarcated by publications, grants, and awards) along with demonstrated excellence in teaching. This recruitment is conducted at the associate/full rank. The resulting hire will be at the associate/full rank, regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
