Position description

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is recruiting for one full-time academic position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the Health Sciences Clinical (HSCP) series. Appointees to the HSCP are required to teach, participate in University service, provide direct patient care and work collaboratively with a diverse group of health professionals in the inpatient clinical care setting. Appointee will serve as Medical Director of the UCDMC Inpatient Diabetes Program; chair the Multidisciplinary Diabetes Care Committee (MDCC), provide clinical leadership for a team of RN Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE) and advanced practice professionals, use UCDMC internal data and Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) glucometrics data to guide performance, develop action plans to improve inpatient diabetes care, and address safety events and concerns, as needed.

Candidates must have MD or DO degree, be Board Certified or Board eligible in Endocrinology, and be eligible for medical licensure in the State of California. Preference will be given to individuals with strong leadership and clinical skills and commitment to diabetes care. Duties include the administrative functions discussed above as well as inpatient care and consultation in diabetes and teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows. The appointee may be expected to develop a limited outpatient practice focused on recently discharged patients with diabetes.
