Position description

The Division of Hematology Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, UC Davis School of Medicine, seeks applicants for the Rowe Chair III endowed position. The focus of this appointment will be cancer genomics based therapeutic development. The successful candidate will have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and will fulfill criteria for appointment in the Clinical X Series at the Associate or full Professor level, which requires a record of outstanding scholarly achievement demonstrated by high impact publication and extramural funding in clinical translational research. An emphasis on genitourinary, gastrointestinal, breast cancer, or Phase I drug development is preferred but not required. The incumbent will be expected to be highly collaborative and assist in the development of innovative investigator-initiated clinical trials. The division has 34 faculty, 10 staff physicians, 9 fellows, 48 staff and operates a large and diverse clinical and research program. The division is a major component of the NCI-designated UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and has a strong presence in developmental therapeutics with an Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN) grant and as a Lead Academic Participating Site (LAPS) with the NCI National Clinical Trials Network. The UC Davis School of Medicine is in the top quarter for NIH funding and one of the inaugural Clinical and Translational Award sites. Candidates must possess an M.D. degree or M.D./Ph.D. and must be board certified by the ABIM in Internal Medicine and hematology and/or medical oncology and be eligible for licensure in the state of California. Experience in and the ability to teach medical students, residents, and fellows as well as experience caring for hematology/medical oncology patients is required. The ability and experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research is required. Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials is highly desirable. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is required.
