Position description

The Division of Hematology Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is seeking applicants for a full-time academic position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical series. Responsibilities include direct inpatient and outpatient clinical care; teaching medical students, residents, and fellows; and university/ public service. Appointees will focus on clinical care and research related to genitourinary oncology. The successful candidate in the Clinical X series will be expected to become a leader in the design, conduct, and analysis of early phase clinical trials aimed to improve the care of cancer patients in the context of a well-established clinical research program. Those wishing a career in clinical translational research are especially encouraged to apply. Clinical patient care is required and will include supervision of medical students, residents and fellows in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The appointee will join a strong clinical and translational academic program within the NCI-designated UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center which includes phase I- III clinical trials, investigator initiated studies, as well as ongoing interactions with other cancer specialists.

Candidates must possess an M.D. degree and be board certified by the ABIM in Internal Medicine and hematology and/or medical oncology and be eligible for licensure in the state of California. Experience in and the ability to teach medical students, residents, and fellows as well as experience caring for hematology/medical oncology patients is required. For the Clinical X series, ability and

experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research and a record of publication in peer reviewed journals is required. Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials is highly desirable. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is required.

This recruitment is conducted at the Assistant/Associate rank. The resulting hire will be at the assistant/associate rank, regardless of the proposed appointee’s qualifications.
