Position description

The title of the position is Assistant/Associate/Full Professor and Assistant/Associate/Full Environmental Toxicologist/Biochemical/Molecular Toxicologist in the Agricultural Experiment Station in the Department of Environmental Toxicology, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, University of California, Davis. This is an academic-year (9-mo) tenure-track or tenured appointment which includes the expectation that the appointee will conduct mission-oriented research and outreach of relevance to the California Agricultural Experiment Station. Candidates should possess expertise in toxicology, particularly as it relates to environmental chemicals and contaminants, with specialization in one or more of the following areas: biochemical and molecular toxicology, mechanistic toxicology, toxicogenomics, systems toxicology; other areas relevant to environmental toxicology will also be considered.

The new faculty member will teach at least two courses (undergraduate, graduate) in the Environmental Toxicology curriculum, and may include courses in introductory toxicology (ETX 101), mechanistic toxicology (ETX 214), molecular toxicology (ETX 278), toxicogenomics (new), or systems toxicology (new). Supervision of graduate student thesis research, advising undergraduates and university and public service are also expected. Consistent with the mission of a Land Grant university and in support of the goals of the California Agricultural Experiment Station, research developed under the appointee’s research program should include an applied/translational component useful to constituents in the public and/or private sectors.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. (preferably with postdoctoral experience) in biochemistry, toxicology, molecular biology, biological chemistry, genetics/genomics, bioinformatics, or a related field, a record of publication, demonstrated success or potential for success in extramurally-funded independent research, and evidence of interest or proficiency in teaching, service and mission-oriented research or outreach.

This is an academic year (9-month) position, with an FTE of 55% I&R and 45% AES, and will be recruited at open rank.
