Position description

This position will be involved in managing and coordinating the logistics of a human clinical research trial conducted at the Western Human Nutrition Research Center. The work will encompass all phases of the study: recruiting, screening, enrolling research subjects, and monitoring subjects through their active participation in the trial, while strictly following IRB-approved protocols. The study is multidisciplinary and requires that the ideal candidate has a broad understanding of nutrition, applied physiology, and metabolism. Successful candidates may also participate in various laboratory analyses, as time permits, including high-throughput clinical chemistry analysis, ELISA assays, and gas or liquid chromatography/mass spectroscopy analyses. General responsibilities include: study coordination (scheduling, communication with professional staff, technical staff, and research volunteers, invoicing for laboratory analyses, clinical and lab supply ordering), set up for clinical test protocols, reviewing food intake with research volunteers, documenting participation of volunteers in the trial, and data management. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Junior specialists will be actively and significantly involved in reviewing journal articles, engaging in discussions on research and the interpretation of research results, participating in appropriate professional societies or groups and other educational and research organizations, presenting research data in lab meeting or society annual conferences, and publishing manuscripts.
