This position will be involved in interdisciplinary studies focusing on questions in plant breeding and plant genomics. General responsibilities include: Analysis of high throughput RNA and DNA sequencing data; de novo assembly of genomes from sequence data; analysis of differential expression; genome wide association studies (GWAS); system administration and maintenance; helping other researchers with computational problems; excellent record keeping; ability to learn new analysis methods; writing of research manuscripts. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills; as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Bachelor degree in bioinformatics, genetics, genomics, computational biology, or a related field.
• Ability to program in at least one data analysis language: R, python, perl.
• Experience with Unix/Linux command line usage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Working knowledge of version control systems. Record keeping using markdown or equivalent. Experience analyzing short read sequencing data. Interest and knowledge of plant biology and plant genomes.
