Position description

The Department of Neurology in collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of California, Davis, is recruiting a translational imaging scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This is a full time faculty position, tenure track.

The faculty member will join a dynamic research environment shared between the Departments of Neurology and Biomedical Engineering with a focus on translational neuroimaging investigations to study brain aging, cerebrovascular disease and dementing disorders. While the applicant is expected to focus primarily on human imaging, experience and interest in animal imaging as part of a translational program would be an asset. In addition to comprehensive biological knowledge, the candidate is required to have an MD with a strong background in Biomedical Engineering or related field or PhD in a translational biomedical field with completed postdoctoral training with a translational medical component and background in computer science, physics, engineering or mathematics with experience in positron emission tomography and/or magnetic resonance imaging.

Applicants are to required to possess the ability to develop novel computer algorithms for image processing, analysis of structural and molecular images or develop new image acquisition protocols. Applicants are required to develop a vigorous and independent research program and to participate in our undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral education and training programs. The applicant should be comfortable with methods of advanced computing and statistics. The candidate of choice will join an internationally recognized research environment that includes the Center for Molecular and Genomic Imaging, the Alzheimer’s Disease Center, the Imaging of Dementia and Aging (IDeA) laboratory, the Imaging Research Center, the Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Facility and the Radiochemistry Research and Training Facility (R2) and is encouraged to collaborate with other departmental programs involved in neuroimaging.
