Position description

The Department of Dermatology at the University of California, Davis is recruiting for a qualified Junior Specialist to work under the direction of Dr. Jared Jagdeo.

This position will be involved in assisting Dr. Jagdeo's research projects and will be expected to do lab (bench) research by working collaboratively with other investigators in the department, IRC, and UC Davis main campus. Specifically, the candidate will be studying the effects of light on skin in vitro. Responsibilities will include attending lab meetings, lab supply ordering, conduction of experiments, analysis of data and manuscript and/or grant preparation. The candidate will be expected to present his/her lab data with analysis at lab meetings and expected to present to the department as well. The candidate may also be involved in coordination of collaborative projects as well, under the guidance of Dr. Jagdeo.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science required.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collegiality within a diverse environment.
• Ability to compile, understand, interpret, and present lab data to department and investigators during lab meetings.

Preferred Qualifications
• Computer knowledge of medical databases, PubMed, and End Note.
• Experience in Dermatology research.
• Ability to conduct laboratory experiments and data analysis independently.

Step I - $36,984 [67% annual] or Step II - $39,444 [67% annual]), commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is open effective April 25, 2016 with an initial review date of May 16, 2016. The position will close on May 30, 2016.

Short term, seasonal appointment based on the needs of the research project. Appointments may be made up to 67%.
