Position description

The Department has a long tradition in energy related research, development and demonstration including applications and research projects in renewable energy conversion systems, combustion, alternative automotive power and drivetrains, fuel cells, manufacturing efficiency, cooling systems, and energy efficiency and the environment. The successful candidate must have expertise and experience related to engineering and science of power & energy systems; a strong research background in power & energy systems including, but not limited to topics such as renewable energy, energy systems integration, thermal conversion, sustainable manufacturing, turbulent heat transfer, or automotive powertrain and mechatronics; a commitment to research and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses within their general area of expertise in Mechanical Engineering.

To be considered, applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related field that merits appointment to the tenure-track title of Assistant Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Applicants must be able to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical and/or aerospace engineering. Candidates whose research interests complement, yet clearly extend existing research strengths within the Department, are particularly encouraged to apply. The resulting hire will be at the Assistant Professor rank, regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
