Position description

The UC Davis Department of Radiology is actively recruiting for two full-time Academic physicians specializing in Nuclear Medicine. Appointment can be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank in the Series depending on experience. These individuals will participate in our research, teaching and clinical program in PET, Nuclear Medicine and Radiology.

We anticipate that at least one of the candidates will have the intent and potential to develop an independent research career. The selected candidates will play a pivotal role in the development of the Nuclear Medicine research program at UC Davis, including clinical trials, the use of advanced reconstruction and kinetic modeling techniques, novel radiotracers and custom-built scanners. UC Davis researchers are currently building a revolutionary two-meter long Total Body PET scanner (http://explorer.ucdavis.edu) as well as a series of high-resolution extremity imaging devices. The balance between clinical and research duties is open for discussion for each position. Junior appointees committed to research will be encouraged to apply for NIH career awards.

Qualified candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O degree. Candidates must be board-eligible in Nuclear Medicine and must have or be eligible for licensure in the State of California. Ability and experience in teaching medical students, residents and fellows is essential. Experience in clinical and translational research is also required, as is expertise in all aspects of Nuclear Medicine including therapy, single photon imaging, PET/CT and multi-modality imaging. Experience in caring for Nuclear Medicine patients is required. The candidate must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.
Preferred qualifications include: a Ph.D. degree; additional board-eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology; experience in collaborative and multi-disciplinary research; experience in clinical trials; experience in IT/Informatics and diverse computer systems; willingness to work and experience in other non-nuclear radiology services as well as Nuclear Medicine; track-record of building multi-disciplinary collaborations; and track-record of gaining extramural research funding.
