Position description

The UC Davis Department of Statistics invites applications for its Abraham Wald Visiting Assistant Professor (WAP) positions as approved on October 9, 2013 by the interim dean of MPS. The WAP positions are renewable for a total of three years upon satisfactory performance in research and teaching. Applicants are required to have completed their Ph.D. by the time of appointment, but no earlier than July 2011. The department seeks applicants in any of the research areas of faculty interest.

A ladder faculty member will be appointed by the department chair to mentor each WAP appointee. The faculty mentor will serve as the WAP’s research adviser, teaching mentor, and adviser for extramural grant applications. Additional mentoring will be provided by members of the Wald Program Committee (WPC). The WPC will also monitor the teaching and research activities of the WAPs and make recommendations to the department chair for appointment renewal.
