Position description

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting for a full-time academic faculty at the Assistant/Associate Professor level in the Clinical X series in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Appointees to the Clinical X series are required to participate in teaching, university/public service, patient care/professional services, and creative work that can include bench, clinical, or translational research. The candidate will join and further develop a team-based integrated clinical care and research program with an emphasis on interstitial lung disease.

Candidates must possess an M.D. degree and be ABIM board certified in Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine. Candidates must be eligible for a California medical license. A track record of excellence in clinical care, clinical and procedural teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, and a strong commitment to translational research in interstitial lung disease is required. Demonstrated skill in the care of complex pulmonary disease and experience in all aspects of patient based research in ILD is required. The capacity to obtain external grant funding for programmatic activities is strongly preferred. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is required.

Candidates can expect to practice in a stimulating academic environment and teach trainees at multiple levels on the inpatient pulmonary consult service, at the Sacramento Veteran’s Administration hospital, and in outpatient pulmonary clinics. Candidates may also attend in the medical intensive care unit, on the critical care consult service, and in the Cardio-Thoracic and Neurosurgical intensive care units.
