PEDIATRIC HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY SECTION CHIEF

The University of California Davis, School of Medicine is seeking a clinician scientist and Section Chief in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the High Associate or Full Professor rank (commensurate with credentials) in the tenure-track or Clinical X Series. This position will focus on translational research involving (but not limited to) developmental therapeutics, clinical trials, bleeding/clotting disorders, hemoglobinopathies and stem cell research with appropriate protected time and support. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other investigators in the NCI-designated UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine (Veterinary Cancer Center), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, Center for Biophotonics Science and Technology, and the Institute for Regenerative Cures. Endowment financial support (Pediatric Cancer Fund – FFE) is available to support the position. Proven excellence in clinical care, research, leadership and administrative experience is required.

The Section of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is composed of five physicians and one nurse practitioner. The section cares for 60-80 new oncology patients per year and participates in the Children’s Oncology Group. Services for patients with hemophilia, sickle cell disease and other hemoglobinopathies are provided in a regional treatment center. The institution also receives support for a 340b Hemophilia Treatment Program. As part of a major UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center expansion, a new Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic and Infusion Center was opened in 2012. The UC Davis Children’s Hospital is based on the UC Davis Health System campus in Sacramento, California and serves a population of over 1 million children in the Northern California, Central Valley and Western Nevada regions. Sacramento is an easily accessible, family-oriented city in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the California coast, and Napa Valley.

Candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O. degree, be board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and be eligible for licensure in the State of California.
