Position Description:
The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Davis invites applications for lecturer positions to teach courses in its undergraduate Managerial Economics major during the 2014-15 academic year. Compensation and the duration of the appointment will depend on the number of courses assigned and the number of units per course.

General Information:
The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at UC Davis is recognized nationally and internationally for the quality of its faculty and the strength of its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department’s undergraduate Managerial Economics major is one of the largest on the UC Davis campus. Lecturers are selected to fill specialized positions that require their professional or academic expertise and complement the courses taught by ladder faculty in the major.

Courses to be Taught:
The following courses may be offered by lecturers for summer 2014 term or the 2014-15 academic year.

ARE 130 – Agricultural Markets
ARE 136 – Managerial Marketing
ARE 140 – Farm Management
ARE 156 – Introduction to Mathematical Economics
ARE 171A – Financial Management of the Firm
ARE 171B – Financial Management of the Firm

Responsibilities:
Teach one or more undergraduate courses in the Managerial Economics major, depending on programmatic need and the candidate’s experience and availability. Duties will include full responsibility for course preparation and presentation, including but not limited to, lectures, preparation and grading of exams, office hours outside of class, and supervision of teaching assistants or readers if assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
The criterion for appointment is evidence of teaching excellence and expertise in the subject matter area. Individuals recruited should possess a post-baccalaureate degree in the relevant subject matter area or equivalent advanced coursework and professional expertise. University level teaching experience is highly desired.

Service Dates:
Summer Session I 2014: June 23, 2014 – August 1, 2014
Summer Session II 2014: August 4, 2014 – September 12, 2014
Fall Quarter 2014: September 29, 2014 – December 19, 2014
Winter Quarter 2015: January 2, 2015 – March 21, 2015
Spring Quarter 2015: March 26, 2015 – June 11, 2015

Salary:
Salary commensurate with qualifications, education, experience and course load.
