The UC Davis Health System invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education (CME). This is a 25% percent position. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience, leadership and commitment to medical education and will be responsible for overseeing the creation, coordination and implementation of all continuing medical education activities for the Health System.
The UCDHS Office of Continuing Medical Education is accredited with Commendation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. The Office of CME provides continuing medical education credits for 49 Regularly Schedule Series (e.g. grand rounds, journal clubs, case conferences), 25-30 live full service conferences, on-line courses, and cosponsors or jointly sponsors 12 -15 CME activities annually.
The Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education will lead the educational mission for CME at UCDHS to ensure the delivery of quality patient care. This position will be responsible for the strategic visioning for education, organizational management and accountability, accreditation and compliance, and educational innovation. The successful candidate will serve as member of the School of Medicine faculty and UCDHS leadership team and work in collaboration with CME counterparts within the UC system and other external constituencies. An interest in performance improvement, integrating quality, inter-professional education, medical education, and/or health services research is desirable.
The incumbent will lead the UC Davis Health System efforts in developing programs interprofessional lifelong learning which will integrate continuing educational opportunities and programs between the School of Medicine, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing and other allied health professions. This is a key initiative of the Health System’s Strategic Plan Goal 3: Interprofessional Learning.
Requirements for this position include a medical license with demonstrated achievement in CME. The selected candidate will be an active participant in CME accreditation and a skilled advocate for quality teaching and a supportive learning environment. This person must have the ability to articulate a vision for the future of CME. Candidates with strong organizational leadership and communication skills, experience in the use of technology and the development of innovative CME activities are strongly encouraged to apply.
