Position description
The Department of Gender & Sexuality Studies at the University of California, Davis seeks a full-time advanced associate or full professor with research and teaching interests in critical ethnic, race, gender and sexuality studies from a transnational/global context. The successful candidate will further engage in transdisciplinary feminist approaches in one or more of the following areas: Black genders and sexualities, racial geographies, infrastructures, critical disability studies, environmental humanities, reproductive justice, and/or labor and migration studies. Applicants must be exceptional scholars and teachers and have a strong commitment and proven track record of departmental service. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the research, teaching, and service of the Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies, to deliver our undergraduate and graduate curriculum, and to sustain cross-disciplinary, cross-departmental connections with other units on campus.
We offer an undergraduate major and minor program and a graduate level Designated Emphasis in Feminist Theory and Research. GSW maintains and encourages close ties to other interdisciplinary departments and programs, notably the African and African American, American, Asian American, Chicana/o, Middle East/South Asia, and Native American Studies departments, as well as the Graduate Group in Cultural Studies. UC Davis is located west of Sacramento and north of the San Francisco Bay Area. Expected salary range is $109,000-187,000, commensurate with rank and experience.

Candidates are required to have a PhD or equivalent in gender, sexuality and women’s studies or a related field. Interdisciplinary fields are preferred. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional promise as scholars and teachers, and a strong commitment to departmental and university service. We seek candidates who can participate fully in the research, teaching, and service of the Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies, who can help us deliver our undergraduate and graduate curriculum, and who are interested in sustaining cross-disciplinary, cross-departmental connections to other units on the campus.
