The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting multiple full-time academic faculty members in the Department of Pediatrics for positions in the Division of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics and at the UC Davis CAARE Center. We are recruiting at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank (commensurate with credentials) in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor or Clinical Pediatrics series. The candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care, education, community engagement and research activities of the Department of Pediatrics and serve on departmental committees.
Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics is one of 15 divisions within the Department of Pediatrics. The division’s academic and clinical offices are based at the UC Davis MIND (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders) Institute, an internationally renowned interdisciplinary research and clinical center on the University of California, Davis Medical Center campus. The UC Davis MIND Institute is also home to a federally funded University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program, an MCHB funded fellowship program in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics and the Fragile X Research and Treatment Center. Division faculty are also affiliated with the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) with over 50 affiliated interprofessional faculty and 71 externally funded projects. The MIND Institute Massie Family Clinic provides assessment and treatment for a wide range of neurodevelopmental and behavioral conditions seen by clinicians representing Psychology, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Genomic Medicine, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Neonatology. Division faculty also support MIND Institute Internships and Postdoctoral Fellowship Programs in Clinical Psychology and are involved in clinical work and training at local FQHCs and Tribal Health Centers.
The UC Davis CAARE Center is an internationally known clinical, research and training center located on the University of California, Davis Medical Center campus. CAARE Center faculty and staff conduct psychological and child welfare evaluations, provide expert witness testimony, education, and consultation regarding the effects of trauma on children and related topics and provide high-quality, evidence-based treatments such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Parent-Child Care (PC-CARE) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The Division includes a Community Mental Health Clinic funded by Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment that provides therapy and assessment services for maltreated/traumatized children and their families. The CAARE Center has a nationally competitive APA approved Psychology Internship, a Postdoctoral fellowship program in Clinical Psychology, a California Department of Healthcare Services-funded program supporting master’s level trainees and a federally funded Parent-Child Care (PC-CARE) Training Center. Numerous federal, state and county grants support clinical services for maltreated, homeless, incarcerated, and other socio-economically vulnerable children and their caregivers.
The Department of Pediatrics is a leader in health professions education within the School of Medicine and has an exceptional Pediatric Residency Program, the only one of its kind in the Greater Sacramento Region. With more than 120 physicians in 33 pediatric subspecialties, the Children's Hospital is a 118-bed hospital housed within the 619-bed University of California, Davis Medical Center.
The UC Davis Children’s Hospital is based on the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento, California and serves a population of over 1 million children in the Northern California, Central Valley and Western Nevada regions. Sacramento is an easily accessible, family-oriented city in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the California coast, and Napa Valley.
Qualifications
• Ph.D. in clinical child psychology
• Successful completion of an APA approved internship and post-doctoral fellowship with a focus in neurodevelopmental disabilities or child maltreatment.
• Current California Clinical Psychologist License or Clinical License in another state and eligibility for a California Clinical Psychologist License
• Ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment
