Position description
The College of Biological Sciences (CBS) at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) invites applications for Postdoctoral Researcher positions in biochemistry and structural biology. This is a pool recruitment for positions open in multiple labs within CBS.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Postdoctoral scholar positions are available immediately in three structural biology labs at UC Davis. Successful candidates will lead independent research projects using methods in structural biology and biochemistry as major approaches. Projects will entail protein expression and purification and performing biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays and experiments, depending on the lab of interest.
UC Davis has a large, interactive group of structural biologists with expertise in crystallography, cryo-EM, and NMR. Onsite equipment and facilities that support these labs include a Glacios transmission electron microscope and a GP2 plunge freezing device for cryo-EM (https://bioem.ucdavis.edu/).

Responsibilities:
Research (90%)
● Design and carry out experiments using a variety of biochemical and structural biology techniques.
● Collect, analyze, and present data in group meetings and external conferences.
● Maintain detailed experimental records and notes.
● Work with the Principal investigator to prepare high-quality peer-reviewed manuscripts and grant submissions to pursue funding opportunities.
● Provide peer review and feedback on manuscripts and grants.
Lab management (10%)
● Provide technical support and mentoring for junior researchers.
● Maintain lab stocks and databases.
● Contribute to lab maintenance and organization.
SALARY RANGE: The posted UC salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html) set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment.

Qualifications
Graduate degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in biochemistry or structural biology with demonstrated expertise in biochemistry. Candidate must have experience in protein expression and purification. Candidate also must be able to keep a complete and detailed laboratory notebook of experimental procedures and data and to archive and document reagents and data for publications, grant proposals, and presentations. Solid organizational skills are a must. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills and the ability to work well both independently and as a part of a team.
