Position description

Director of Sleep Medicine Program- The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, located at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California, is seeking one academic full-time Associate or Professor level Director for Sleep Medicine in the clinical X or health sciences clinical series to participate in clinical, teaching and research programs. In addition to clinical responsibilities, candidate will be expected to fully participate in departmental programs, including teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows; and must be able to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment. The University will not offer sponsorship of a visa for this position.

Specific duties of this position include:
• Provide overarching leadership of sleep program which currently includes physicians across multiple departments and specialties, a sleep clinic, a 6-bed outpatient lab, and relationship with an additional, external laboratory.
• Serve as Medical Director and provide direct patient care within multidisciplinary sleep clinic.
• Oversee and optimize utilization of 6-bed outpatient sleep laboratory serving adult and pediatric patients.
• Provide oversight and training to sleep lab staff, review and update sleep laboratory protocols and workflows, and ensure compliance with all accreditation requirements.
• Develop robust at home sleep program in conjunction with administrative leadership.
• Develop a plan for an expanded inpatient sleep consultation service.
• Lead workforce planning efforts encompassing multiple departments to ensure timely patient access to care, consistent, timely sleep study interpretation, and equitable assignment of duties.
• Support primary care physicians in their care of patients with sleep disorders through development of protocols, standardized orders, etc.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Current Medical License or eligible for licensure in the state of California
Board Certified or Eligible in Sleep Medicine
Fellowship trained in Sleep Medicine
Must be able to demonstrate that they are legally authorized to work in the United States.
