The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Davis is seeking to recruit three full-time academic pediatric intensivists to join our division of 15 Pediatric Critical Care Medicine faculty to help support our new sedation service. The UC Davis Children’s Hospital is the only nationally ranked children’s hospital in the Sacramento region. It is the Central Valley’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and boasts a robust pediatric cardiothoracic surgery program. We have a state of the art 24 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit with an average of 1700 admissions annually. We are an Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) recognized Center of Excellence for extracorporeal life support (ECLS). In addition, UC Davis Children’s hospital has the first American College of Surgery (ACS) verified Children's Surgery Center in California. Our new Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship has matched a full complement of 1 fellow per training year. Our pediatric intensivist team staffs our new Children’s Hospital Sedation Service, and we are hiring to help meet this clinical need.
The UC Davis Children’s Hospital is located on the UC Davis Health System campus in Sacramento, California and serves a population of over 1 million children in the Northern California, Central Valley and Western Nevada regions. With over 30 pediatric subspecialty services, UC Davis offers comprehensive pediatric care. We have an active critical care transport team. UC Davis is also home to one of the largest telemedicine programs in the country providing state of the art access to many community hospitals in Northern California.
Sacramento is an easily accessible, family-oriented city in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the California coast, and Napa Valley.
This position is open at the Assistant/Associate/Professor rank (commensurate with credentials) in either the Clinical X or Health Science Clinical Professor series. The candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care in the PICU/PCICU and on our sedation team, teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, and research activities for the Department of Pediatrics and serve on departmental committees. The ideal applicant should have a healthy interest in academic medicine.
Candidates must have the following experience/qualifications:
• M.D. or D.O.
• Board certification/eligibility in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care
• Eligibility for a California Medical License
• Ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment
